This curatorial project, titled Yak Yak: rural/art dialogues, set out to emphasize the importance of trans-local dialogue for the sustainable development of rural places.

Art/farming/architecture assemblages, individuals and collectives from five continents presented newly commissioned and existing works arising from their extended engagements with specific localities,

Yak Yak: rural/ art dialogues took the form of a gallery exhibition in the Swan Hill Regional Art Gallery, Victoria (AUS) and an online presentation focusing more broadly on the practices of those participating. A publication can be viewed here

Yak Yak: rural/ art dialogues was co-curated by Ian Tully and Fiona Woods, working closely with invited contributors: Centro Rural de Arte (ARG); Kultivator/Friendfarm (SW/TAN); Shaun Mackrell (AUS); M12 (US); Veronica Nicholson (IRL) & Brown's Cows (AUS); Trevor Flinn (AUS). It was conceived within the framework of ACRE (Australia's Creative Rural Economy), a network and project based in the Victoria/NSW region.
