Reverse mapping is a co-production with the Ground Up Artists’ Collective, an association of artists with a rural focus, based in Ireland. I have worked with this collective on and off over the course of a decade, through changes in its formation. The current membership is quite committed to an exploration of dwelling, enacting a reflective relationship with the places in which these artists find themselves.

I was interested to embed elements of my work within the explorations of this group, to situate works produced as part of #5 within a dissimilar set of social and physical relations.  Each of the artists involved in this co-production selected an image from the cache of #5, and chose a site in Ireland relevant to their own work. The images were then projected onto those sites, resulting in photographs and texts that map the work from #5 back onto an Irish context.

This amounted to a collective reimagining and remaking of the elements and processes that were generated and assembled through episode #5. The coproduction included conversations about the rich practices and interests of these generous and socially committed artists.

reverse mapping is included as a chapter in the publication one kind and another.
